Check baggage to final destination
If you have connecting flights and would like to check your baggage through to your final destination, we recommend visiting this section.
What you need to know
Your baggage can be checked through to your final destination, provided that the following conditions are met:
- All your flights are included in the same booking reference and ticket number. However, certain customs regulations may require you to collect your baggage at a connecting airport before continuing your journey. You can check these requirements on this same page or contact our customer service team.
- Your journey does not fall under any of the following circumstances, in which checking baggage through to the final destination is not available:
| If you need to change airports, as may be the case when connecting between Buenos Aires Aeroparque and another airport, or between Paris-Orly and Paris Charles de Gaulle. | If you need to connect to another mode of transport, such as a train or a boat. | If your pet is travelling in the aircraft hold, we recommend checking the following information: Travelling with Pets. |
Customs requirements depending on the country and type of connection
Customs authorities at each airport establish the requirements according to the country's regulations and the type of connecting flight. Please check the information relevant to your journey.
Connections in Madrid (MAD), Asunción (ASU), Bogotá (BOG), Medellín (MDE) and Panama City (PTY)
If your baggage has been tagged through to your final destination, you do not need to collect it until you arrive at the final point of your journey.
Connections in Caracas (CCS) and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (VVI)
You must collect your baggage upon arrival at these airports.
Connections in Córdoba (COR), Buenos Aires (EZE), Havana (HAV) and Lima (LIM)
Baggage tagging and collection will depend on the type of connection you have:
If your connection is on a domestic flight:
Your baggage can only be tagged to the first destination. You must collect it and check it in again at the check-in counters of the airline operating your next flight.
If your connection is on an international flight:
Your baggage may be tagged through to your final destination. Customs clearance and baggage collection will take place at the last point of your journey.
Connections in Cancún (CUN), New York (JFK), Miami (MIA), San Pedro Sula (SAP), Punta Cana (PUJ), Santo Domingo (SDQ) and Santiago de los Caballeros (STI)
You must collect your baggage and hand it over to the airline operating your next flight, even if your baggage has been tagged through to your final destination.
Connections in Quito (UIO), Montevideo (MVD), Johannesburg (JNB), São Paulo (GRU), Guayaquil (GYE) and Salvador (SSA)
Baggage collection will depend on the type of connection you have:
If your connection is on a domestic flight:
Your baggage may be tagged through to your final destination. However, you must always collect it and check it in again at the check-in counters of the airline operating your next flight.
If your connection is on an international flight:
If your baggage has been tagged through to your final destination, you will collect it at the last point of your journey.
