Limitation of liability

Before checking fragile, perishable or valuable items in your baggage, we recommend you declare its value.

If you are checking fragile, perishable or valuable objects

Air Europa will not be liable for any damages to objects in checked baggage considered fragile (glass bottles, paintings, handicrafts, souvenirs, etc.), perishables, money, currencies, jewellery, works of art, precious metals, silverware, titles or other objects of value, expensive garments, optical and/or electronic devices, cameras of all types, musical instruments, toolboxes, business documents, negotiable securities, samples and stocks, passports and other documents, valuables, poorly packaged sports equipment, beyond the legally established limits. Passengers may benefit from a higher liability limit by making a special declaration, at check-in at the latest, and by paying an additional fee.

Incidents with baggage

In case of loss, damage or delay in the delivery of checked baggage, go to the incident desk immediately before leaving the baggage claim hall. There you will find the necessary information and the compulsory Property Irregularity Report (PIR) needed to resolve the incident.

If you do not formalise the PIR, the company will not assume any liability for the baggage, in accordance with the provisions of art. 31.1 of the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air, drafted in Montreal on May 28, 1999 and art. 3.1 of Council Regulation (EC) No. 2027/97, of 9 October 1997.

Minor damage to baggage

The airline is not responsible for small damages caused by nature, defects or travel. Proper use of the bags and respecting the weight and capacity specifications outlined by the manufacturer will help prevent such damages. For these reasons, airlines, in accordance with the Montreal Convention, do not assume liability for minor damage and accessories that protrude from the baggage and that have been caused by the causes above.
