A new European border control system will soon be operational: the Entry/Exit System (EES).
This system is intended for citizens of countries outside the European Union who are travelling to the Schengen area for short stays.
Its implementation will be gradual and will begin on 12 October 2025 at the various points of entry.
With the entry into force of the EES, biometric controls and digital registration will be introduced, so it is recommended that you allow a little extra time at border crossings, especially during the first few months of implementation.
If you would like to know more about the EES, you can consult the official website of the European Union and the official website of the Ministry of the Interior.
