Learn about the peculiarities of transporting sports equipment.

Sports equipment 

  • Sports equipment is subject to the same travel conditions as checked baggage, although there are certain special types that entail an additional cost of €75 each way, except for hang gliding and paragliding equipment or equipment other than that described in this section, which will cost €150 each way. 
  • In the following cases, if the weight of the equipment exceeds the permitted weight, the passenger will pay the excess weight fee.
  • The following items are not permitted on flights operated by ATR or E145 planes or similar: hang gliders or paragliders, poles, or other bulky sports equipment/baggage.
  • Exceptionally, on inter-island flights in the Balearic or Canary Islands, a limited number of surfboards will be permitted, subject to availability on the flight. Requests should be made to our Customer Service Department.
  • The maximum measurements for sports equipment are 250 cm between length x width x height, unless otherwise provided for in the description of the baggage below or by Air Europa personnel. For flights operated by ATR or E145, the dimensions are 158 linear cm. In the E145, sports equipment that exceeds these measurements may be evaluated.
  • Prices subject to possible tax surcharges in certain countries.

Fishing equipment consists of 2 rods, 1 reel, 1 net for holding fish, 1 pair of fishing boots and 1 fishing gear box. 

Fishing equipment is equal to 1 piece of standard checked baggage and is included free of charge in the ticket price. 

If the weight or pieces of equipment exceed the weight/pieces covered by baggage allowance, the passenger must pay the excess weight fee for purchase one additional piece of baggage, subject to availability.

The golf equipment consists of 1 golf bag containing golf clubs and 1 pair of golf shoes.

Golf equipment is considered as 1 piece of standard hold baggage, its carriage is included free of charge in the ticket price.

If the weight or pieces of equipment are more than the weight/measurements/pieces allowed in the free baggage allowance, the passenger must pay the excess fee for overweight.

  • Alpine skiing equipment: a set of skis, two poles and a pair of ski boots.
  • Snowboarding equipment: a board and a pair of boots.
  • Water skiing equipment: a pair of standard or slalom water skis.

Skiing equipment is considered as standard checked baggage and is included free of charge in the ticket price. 

We recommend packing the equipment in a specific case whose length does not exceed 158 cm. If it exceeds these measurements, it must be transported as special checked baggage.

Oars are considered as standard checked baggage and are included free of charge in the ticket price. 

If the weight or pieces of equipment exceed the weight/pieces covered by baggage allowance, the passenger must pay the excess weight fee for purchase one additional piece of baggage, subject to availability.

Hockey or Lacrosse equipment consists of:

  • A canvas bag containing Hockey or Lacrosse equipment.
  • Two Hockey or Lacrosse sticks fixed together per passenger.

Hockey or Lacrosse equipment is considered as standard checked baggage and is included free of charge in the ticket price. 

If the weight or pieces of equipment exceed the weight/pieces covered by baggage allowance, the passenger must pay the excess weight fee for purchase one additional piece of baggage, subject to availability.

These items can be taken as a substitute for a checked bag. Therefore, the transport and purchase conditions are the same as those for an extra piece of conventional baggage.

All bicycles will be transported individually (including bike trailers or accessories of a similar size).

  • In order to be accepted, the passenger must present the bicycle at check-in:
  • The handlebar turned lengthways.
  • Pedals removed.
  • Extendible parts removed or covered.
  • Tyres deflated (front wheel removed and attached to the frame).
  • Suitably packaged in a bag or box.

You can book online through the section Manage your reservation. Bicycles with more than one seat or a motor are not accepted.

Additional cost: €75*

*For flights to Havana the additional cost is €200.

 Diving equipment may consist of diving suit, vest, socks, mask, footwear, torch, nets, knife, 1 empty oxygen bottle and 1 regulator.

To be accepted, you must:

  • Present the empty compressed air bottle at check-in.
  • Remove the bulb from the torch and pack it separately. It can only be transported as hand luggage.

Additional cost: €75*

*On inter-island flights in the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, it may be transported free of charge in substitution of the checked baggage included in the fare.

Any members of State Security Forces travelling for the purposes of official business or transfer are exempt from this fee.

Additional cost: €75

They may not be transported on flights operated by ATR aircraft.

Additional cost: €75.

This equipment can include:

  • Windsurfing: The equipment may include a surfboard, a mast, a sail and a boom. 
  • Surfing: A surfboard 
  • Kitesurfing: A kite or parachute, a board and a bar.

Additional cost: €75*

*On inter-island flights in the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, it may be transported free of charge in substitution of the checked baggage included in the fare.

  • The equipment is packed in a single package.
  • It may not be transported on flights operated by ATR and E145 aircraft.

Any sports equipment not mentioned above will be treated as special baggage in the hold.
