What to do in Brussels?
- There are plenty of buildings to admire as you walk through the Grand Place, including the famous guild houses intricately decorated with gables, sculptures and gold patterns. The area is thought of as one of the most beautiful medieval square in the whole of Europe.
- A few winding alleyways from the square sits the famous Manneken Pis (Peeing Boy) statue. Many festivities are celebrated around this little fellow who always draws interest from all over the world.
- Vibrant Place St Gery is a great place to relax and simply watch the world go by at one of the many cafes, bars and restaurants. For a more energetic slant, drop by in the evening to enjoy its buzzy night life activity.
- You will be able to see Atomium from almost everywhere in Brussels, but it’s worth going up close to really get a sense of this iconic attraction built for Brussels’ hosting participation in the World Fair (Expo 58). Take the lift to the peak for a great view and finish your trip by enjoying a delicious cup of hot chocolate in the café below.
Stroll around this lovely old city and see the fabulous collection of architectural sights, ranging from Gothic (Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula), Baroque (the Grand Place), and the fabulous art nouveau style of the late 1800s and early 1900s represented in the Flagey building, Basilica of Koekelberg and the Centre for Fine Arts.
When to visit Brussels
Brussels sees most tourists during the summer as the weather is normally very pleasant, not too warm and not too cold (we’re talking Northern Europe here, remember!). However, the Winter Market, open-air ice rink and stunning Christmas sound-and-light show in the Grand Place is also worth a visit. Remember St. Nicolas celebrations begin 6 December.
Fly Air Europa to Brussels and enjoy a carefully chosen selection of audio-visual entertainment, guaranteed to make your flight a pleasurable experience.
